Saxophonist Philippe C\u00f4t\u00e9 joins percussion ensemble Sixtrum and pianist Fran\u00e7ois Bourassa for the world premiere of new works that place percussion at the center of an ever-changing landscape of rhythms and textures where improvisation unfolds. Inspired by the duo project Confluence<\/strong> <\/a><\/em>(C\u00f4t\u00e9\/Bourassa, 2023), this concert extends the duo’s dialogue in an encounter with Sixtrum’s inventive percussive universe.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”]

The use of technology has been part of SIXTRUM\u2019s artistic work for many years. Our new\u00a0Espaces d\u2019interaction<\/em>\u00a0series aims to explore different modes of interaction over the coming years, through the creation of new works based on the notions of interaction, spatialization and the human-machine relationship. Each project will enable the percussionists to collaborate with a group of Quebec and Canadian creators, a mix of established and emerging artists.[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”16px”]

FIELD OF VISION<\/h3>\n

\nIn collaboration with Le Vivier<\/a> and the UQAM Music Department<\/a>
\nSupported by the Consulate General of France in Quebec City<\/a><\/p>\n

A masterful work composed for 36 percussionists by Michael Gordon, Field of Vision<\/em> will be performed at the Agora de l\u2019UQAM, accompanied by Les Percussions de Strasbourg. Founded in 1962 by six musicians and directed by Pierre Boulez, the ensemble is one of the most famous percussion ensembles in the world. Field of Vision<\/em> will feature our two ensembles as well as collaborators from McGill University, the Conservatoire de Montr\u00e9al, and the University of Montreal, along with the ensembles EP4<\/a> and Architek<\/a>.
