Battement de cœurs: Ju Percussion Group - August 23, 2019, 8pm Amphithéâtre Gesù, Montréal
Hosted by SIXTRUM, the Overseas Chinese Association – Montreal Chapter (OCA), and Le Vivier, Taiwanese ensemble Ju Percussion Group will perform in Montreal for the first time on August 23rd at the Amphithéâtre Gesù. Founded in 1986 by Zu Tzong-Ching (inducted into the Percussive Arts Society Hall of Fame in 2016), the Ju Percussion Group is made up of 17 full-time musicians who have presented more than 3000 shows in Taiwan and abroad during numerous international tours, and who have been commissioned to create as many as 235 pieces to date. The unique professional performances of the Ju Percussion Group have successfully captured the heights of the performing arts world and let the world hear the sound of Taiwan.
Ju Percussion Group will present the program Battement de cœurs, featuring five of its most talented members in an ultra-dynamic program that combines contemporary creation with the inspiration of traditional Asian percussion, at the crossroads of tradition and modernity where oriental and occidental energies meet. This concert is a unique opportunity to discover this ensemble that is acknowledged by its government to be a cultural ambassador for Taiwan, and to see one of the world’s most famous percussion ensembles in action!
