A versatile and creative percussionist, Julien Grégoire has participated in many long-lasting musical adventures: Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, Transmission, the duo Traces, and of course Sixtrum have marked his journey in contemporary music over the past thirty years, in addition to his numerous concerts with the Grands Ballets Canadiens, the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, and the chamber orchestra I Musici de Montréal.
Cultivating freedom and artistic excellence, Julien Grégoire has taught throughout his career at the Université de Montréal and it is to highlight his exceptional contribution to the contemporary music and percussion community that Sixtrum has decided to dedicate its first Carte blanche to him. This will be an opportunity to discover his talents as a composer and his sources of inspiration in the visual arts and nature, in existing and original works that will be performed by Sixtrum and former students of the Université de Montréal, where improvisation and musical theater will never be far away.
